Panic! At the Discomusic
Formed in Las Vegas, Nevada by members Ryan Ross, Spencer Smith, Brendon Urie, and Brent Wilson, P!atd is commonly refered to as a 'pop-punk' and/or ' punk-rock' band. Brent Wilson, former basist, who was in the band for a very short time, left and was replaced by Jon Walker. Later in 2009, Ryan Ross (guitarist) and Jon Walker (basist) left due to creative differences and formed The Young Veins. Two albums were made with Ross and Walker; A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, and Pretty. Odd. The two albums are widely different from each other. After Ross and Walker left, vocalist Brendon Urie, and drummer Spencer Smith, created the album Vices and Virtues. Many people stereotype them to be 'listened to by 13 year olds who don't know what real music is, and'emo kids.' Recently, Panic!'s song 'Ready To Go' has been feautured in TV commercials, causing the band to become more mainstream. Although you don't have to listen to them since the beginning when they were originally formed, it would help if you know other songs then just the ones that play on the radio and TV.
Person 1: I just started listening to Panic! At The Disco last week, and I think they're really good! Camisado is my favorite song.
Person 2: Yeah I know! I love the album Pretty. Odd.
'Poser' Person 3: Yeah! I don't know the album names but I LOVE I Write Sins, Not Tragedies, and Ready To Go. They play on the radio all the time!

Panic at the Disco (formerly Panic! at the Disco) is a rock band from Las Vegas. Due to unfortunate circumstances, 80% of their fanbase is synonymous with screaming fangirls who only know their hit single, 'I Write Sins Not Tragedies.'
The other 20% are cool, intelligent people who appreciate good music and want MTV to die, and don't listen to the radio either. They know all of Panic's songs (from both their amazing yet extremely different albums, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out and Pretty. Odd.) and know all the lyrics as well as their meaning. They don't listen to Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance unless their genuinely like them, which would be because of their (good) older material.
Panic at the Disco blend techno and rock with theatrical touches in their first album, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. Contrary to popular belief, this was something that had never been done before. At the September 2005 release of this album, it did not get much attention from the media or really any commercial recognition at all. In early 2006, the video for their second single, I Write Sins Not Tragedies, was played on MTV's Total Requests.
Is this enough proof that this band was NOT originally meant to be 'liked' by ignorant 'fans' who like one song?
In March 2008 they released their Beatles-esque second album, Pretty. Odd. This experimental and risky album did lose some of the original fans, but true fans ignored the fact that it was very different from the first album and gave it a chance.
Overall, PATD are an extremely original band whose less popular songs (NOT I WRITE SINS NOT TRAGEDIES) need to be considered.
Common 'fan': OMG I love Panic at the Disco!
Real fan: Really? What's your favorite song by them?
Common 'fan': Well.. everyone knows THAT.. I Write Sins Not Tragedies!
Real fan: And do you know anything ELSE?
Common 'fan': No. No one does. Do they even have other songs?
Real fan: *shoots*

Probably a fire. Because if I were at the disco and there were a fire I would most likely panic(!), though they say not to. Panicking at the disco usually leads to people getting trampled, so be careful.
Sally (breathless): Panic! at the Disco.
John (Aghast): Yeah, I saw you trample that old lady on the news.

A pop-rock band hailing from Las Vegas, Nevada that infuses a rather wide array of other elements into their songs.
They currently have one album out, entitled 'A Fever You Can't Sweat Out' which is split down the middle(this split marked by track 8, 'Intermission') with the first containing very electronica-influenced futuristic sounding songs, and the second containing songs that sound older by means of use of vaudeville piano and accordion
The current line-up of Panic(as they are often abbreviated to) consists of:
Brendon Urie-Vocals, Guitar, Keyboard, Piano, Accordian, and organ
Ryan Ross-Guitar, Keyboard, Piano, Accordian, Organ
Brent Wilson-Bass
Spencer Smith-Drums and Percussion
The lyrics are written by guitarist Ryan Ross and are often more reminiscent of prose than traditional lyics or poetry, and contain many allusions to various facets of pop culture, in particular the writings of Portland satirical author Chuck Palahniuk. These allusions include:
-The second track of their album is called 'The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage' which is a line taken from Palahniuk's novel 'Survivor'
-The sixth track on the album, entitled 'Time To Dance', is said to be one big reference to Palahniuk's 'Invisible Monsters'
-The song 'London Beckoned Songs about Money Written By Machines' contains lyrics that start with 'Just For the record, the weather today is..', this is verbiage very often used by the narrator of Palahniuk's novel 'Diary'
Currently(2006-07) they've developed a large following, due in large part to the success of their single 'I Write Sins Not Tragedies'. This following is primarily composed of adolescents in the age brackets of 14-17, often the type of people which have widely been given the somewhat-derogatory nickname of 'scene' or 'emo'. And as with most bands associated with, through their own doing or not, 'Emo' or 'Scene', the band experiences very much criticism and hatred, even if for the fact that these self-proclaimed critics really dislike them for the mere sake of rebellion.
'Panic! At the Disco's next single will be the seventh song off of their album, 'Lying is the Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off'

Named after a line from Name Taken’s “Panic,” Panic! at the Disco was formed by drummer Spencer Smith, bassist Brent Wilson, guitarist Ryan Ross, and vocalist Brendon Urie, and founded in 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada. While crafting pop-influenced songs with theatrical themes, quirky techno beats, and perceptive lyrics, they received some much-deserved attention.

They became the first group signed on Pete Wentz’s (bassist in Fall Out Boy) record label, Decaydance Records (now DCD2 Records). Their hit song that started it all, “I Write Sins Not Tragedies,” remains one of their top two top forty songs along with “Hallelujah.”

Panic At The Disco Band Members 2018

They have released six studio albums: A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, Pretty. Odd., Vices & Virtues, Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!, Death of a Bachelor, and now their most recent album Pray for the Wicked. These last two albums were actually solo projects from Brendon Urie, since all the other members of the band had already left the group before their release dates; in 2006, bassist Brent Wilson was fired due to his “lack of responsibility and the fact that he wasn’t progressing musically with the band.” And in 2009, guitarist Ryan Ross and bassist Jon Walker left the band to “embark on a musical excursion of their own,” forming The Young Veins. Dallon Weekes, who joined the band as a bassist and songwriter in 2009, had become a touring member only by the time Death of a Bachelor was released and later left the band completely in order to focus on his own music. Weekes was replaced by Nicole Row, the first female member of the band.

Along with the release of Pretty. Odd., the group revealed a new logo for their name, which excluded the use of the renowned exclamation point. Guitarist Ryan Ross explained how it was becoming a nuisance.

At least for me, it got a little bit annoying to try to write that every time you’re typing the name. It was never part of the name to us…People started writing it, and then it ended up in more and more things like that, so there it was. When we started doing new promo stuff for this album, we just told everyone not to use it anymore.

However, the new logo didn’t last very long. The following year in 2009, drummer Spencer Smith wrote about their upcoming single, “New Perspective,” on the group’s website. Smith signed the note as “Spencer of Panic! at The Disco,” signifying the return of the exclamation point.

In regards to why they brought it back, Smith said:

For me and Brendon, there were aspects of our first album that did sort of go away on Pretty. Odd. that we’d like to bring back to our band. There was some theatricality and some different styles of music, and we want to make a record that is drawing from both our previous albums. And it just seemed like it would be a fun thing for our fans. Hopefully, there’s less of a big deal [made] about it coming back than there was about it going away. It seems like a new chapter, so having that as part of the band seemed like something we could bring back.

For over a decade, the band, and its innovatively artistic music videos, have received many accolades. The band has received two Video of the Year awards: one (for “I Write Sins Not Tragedies”) at the 2006 VMAs, and another (for “Emperor’s New Clothes”) via the 2015 Rock Sounds Readers Poll. The latter also won Best Music Video at the 2016 Alternative Press Music Awards, while “Hallelujah” received Song of the Year at the 2016 Alternative Press Music Awards. This is in addition to countless nominations and international awards. Urie also won an award for Best Vocalist at the 2014 Alternative Press Music Awards. Four years later, he won the Best Artist award at The Rock Sound Awards 2018.
