That one moment defined the entire film for me.
'Meri Pyaari Bindu' belongs to a forgotten era where love used to happen over a cup of coffee, shared biryani and recorded audio cassettes. It's a bittersweet love story that brings a lump to the throat, yet you never lose that smile from the face. The characters are as real as the next door neighbours. The pain and the anguish that the couple face, is something that everyone can relate to. But the love can only be felt by those, who have loved and lost.
Kudos to Suprotim Sengupta for such exquisite writing.

What a concept, the most realistic movie ever made in Bollywood..people didn't like the movie and that is understandable. because they didn't go through all that..love in real life is not a typical Bollywood drama.and this movie shows that only.
The songs, dialogue, scenes, every detail is so perfect that I couldn't find a single mistake in the movie.
I would say.A must watch for everyone who wants to remember the life he or she left.
Thank you director for the gem. every time I watch this, I get lost in memories and finally it leaves me with smile..this is the only Revie I ever wrote(I read many).

After Raanjhnaa, this is the first movie which had some catchy and creative dialogues. Editing is some what of a set back. But the film will never make you want to look at the watch. :D

'Meri Pyaari Bindu' Synopsis: A successful writer Abhimanyu Roy (Ayushmann Khurrana), stuck with writers block, returns to his roots to write an old-fashioned love story, which ends up to be his own & how Bindu (Parineeti Chopra), changed his life for better or worse.
'Meri Pyaari Bindu' begins well & the sequences involving Abhimanyu aka Bubla's Eccentric Bengali Family, are a joy to watch. And even when the story goes back in the past, the interactions between Bubla & Bindu, offer charm. And though things get wobbly soon enough, yet you're in your seat safely till the interval. Its the second-hour that dampens 'Meri Pyaari Bindu' to great levels. Abhimanyu & Bindu's longgggg journey from friends to lovers, is unappealing. The second-hour simply doesn't connect, as the narrative takes a dip & doesn't rise above. Even the culmination, is overlong & might make you restless. What begins as a sweet friendship-turned-into-love story, turns into an overlong story about people who just aren't sure about life or themselves!
The Writing is lighthearted, but soulless. I liked the first-hour to a large extend, but the second-hour, is a slog. And one is never sure about Bindu's erratic behavior towards Abhimanyu, nor does Abhimanyu's longing wait, make you melt, as the characters aren't well-etched out. A much better Screenplay was the need of the day! The Dialogue, however, are good, although its protagonist's continuous narration throughout, gets repetitive.
Akshay Roy's Direction is decent, but the Writing pulls the efforts down. He has the talent, but it needs to be backed with a better Script. I particularly enjoyed how he began the film, with the Goddess Durga roaming over the stunning city of Kolkata. Cinematography, Editing & Sachin-Jigar's Score are top-notch. And the use of retro Bollywood Music, Is Always Welcome!
Performance-Wise: Ayushmann Khurrana is extremely likable. As the long-waiting lover protagonist, Ayushmann delivers a first-rate performance. He holds the film & even his Voice-Over work throughout, is credible, although there is a lot of it! Parineeti Chopra is earnest as Bindu, but her character isn't entirely understandable. The on-screen chemistry between Ayushmann & Parineeti, is nice. Rajatabha Dutta & Aparajita Auddy, as Ayushmann's eccentric parents, are simply fantastic. The actor who portrays the part of Ayushmann's manager, is also terrific. Nishant Dahiya sparkles in a cameo.
On the whole, 'Meri Pyaari Bindu' is only partly appealing. Disappointing!

I will highly recommend this to everyone and especially to those who like light heart-ed movies.

Strength: The music. Timeline in which the story is built, gives it essence of a fresh love story.
Weakness: It's just another love story.

Fed up with the lack of critical appreciation despite being a successful writer, Abhimanyu Roy (Ayushmann Khurrana) returns to his roots in Kolkata to write more meaningful literature and decides on an old-fashioned love story - which was now, 3 years in the making. This writer's block is called Bindu (Parineeti Chopra). How do you contain this unpredictable, crazy, restless, larger than life, live wire in the pages of a book? As Abhi says You know when a song comes on and you just have to dance? Bindu was that song. That silly infectious joyful tune you couldn't get out of your head - even if you wanted to.' So where should he begin? Where should he end?

Besides music, and the setting of Kolkata as well as the homes of the two lead characters, this movie has nothing to save it.
Both Ayushman and Parineeta have a chemistry which is electrifying just not with each other. There is just no connection. They seem to be acting as if there's a gun pointed to their heads. Because the audience cannot relate to their small talk or any banter. The casting director wasn't hired or must have been related to the producer, because it sucked.
I think Ayushman is doing these kind of movies thinking that he might land at least one winner in such movies because otherwise he's not going to get a lead role in a decent movie .but I wonder why Parineeta had to get desperate.
I again repeat, IMDb must ban sham and fake reviewers, they are eroding IMDb s credibility. I have stopped trusting the rating and reviews of IMDb now. I cross check with other platforms like Rotten tomatoes etc.
The movie narration is all over the place, leaving the viewer thoroughly confused. One, there is too much of a shift in the time line from present day to flashback. Two, there are too many incidents (backed by the songs) that come too often creating an unsettling viewing experience. And Three, there are too many places where the multitude of incidents are rapidly rolling out. So for the viewer it is quite a task to keep track of the time, the progress of the plot and the location. All the ingredients of each scene are great but the way they have been sequenced is confusing. You just can't identify with any of the characters. They lost the audience in the start.
There should be some kind of penalty for the producers and directors of such sad excuses for movies.

A film without a story - that is all I can say about the film. There is no character buildup at all. Suddenly they made Ayushmann Khurrana a writer and Parineeti Chopra a selfish person. There should be some back story of becoming that person because those role are the important parts of the story. If those character did not have strong foundation about their nature then the story is bound to fall apart. That is what happened with this film.
And the over acting of all the supporting is an eyesore to watch. And the comedy they wanted to put in the film was just a pathetic drag. The only good thing about the film except Parineeti Chopra herself was the tracks. Almost all the songs were pretty melodious and equally enjoyable.
Bottom line, Movie: Not Recommended, Songs: Recommended.

Suprotim Sengupta's screenplay comes around as the following Mantra of achievement. It is affectionate, yet not choking. It gives you enough space to enjoy what's occurring, however you don't lose your direction halfway. Akshay Roy's directorial introduction will doubtlessly talk for his aptitudes of narrating. Roy has, before, helped somebody as flexible as Farhan Akhtar and furthermore somebody as veteran as Mira Nair. He is somebody you got the opportunity to pay special mind to. The sun-lit visuals must be a result of him picturing them for a considerable length of time! And afterward, we adored how the film grasps each misfortune with a sentiment satisfaction.
Sachin-Jigar's music includes only the correct state of mind; from the beginning sentiments of calf love to the distress of seperation and each other little curve that offers a space. Tushar Kanti Roy's cinematography focuses on catching the important minutes and not simply insignificant visuals; which makes everything the more successful.
